CURRENT EXHIBITION: Newlyn School of Art Presents UPON: 18 – 20 September 2026

Seventeen artists from across the UK will come together this September to present UPON, an exhibition celebrating the culmination of the Newlyn School of Art’s prestigious Professional Landscape Programme.

UPON showcases a diverse collection of contemporary landscape artworks developed over the course of an intensive twelve-month programme. Throughout the year, artists have travelled from across the country to Cornwall every two months, working together under the guidance of leading tutors while developing their individual artistic practices.

The title UPON reflects the artists’ varied responses to landscape — the moments, memories and encounters that emerge through a sustained engagement with place. The exhibition explores the relationship between artist and environment, revealing personal interpretations of the landscapes that surround and inspire us.

From dramatic coastlines and rural landscapes to intimate and deeply personal responses to place, the work demonstrates the breadth, energy and vitality of contemporary landscape artists today.

The exhibition runs across both floors of Tremenheere Gallery and will be open Fri 18-Sun 20 Sept – 5-9pm on Fri and 10am-4pm on Sat&Sun. Entry to the Gallery is FREE.

As autumn settles over the gardens, the changing season brings a new atmosphere to Tremenheere. The light softens, the landscape transforms, and there’s an invitation to slow down and see things from a different perspective.

🍂 Newlyn School of Art presents UPON

Opening Friday 18 September, 5 - 9, UPON showcases contemporary landscape works by 17 artists from @newlynartschool’s @professional__landscape Programme. The exhibition continues 19 - 20 September, 10 - 4.

🍂 Gardens & Skyspace at Dusk

Join us on Tuesday 22 September from 6pm to mark the Autumn Equinox with an evening visit to the gardens, followed by a magical dusk experience inside #JamesTurrell’s Tewlwolow Kernow Skyspace.

🍂 @terramaterart presents Liminal: A World in Transition

Opening Wednesday 23 September from 6pm, Liminal brings together six artists exploring seasonal change, the climate crisis, time and water pollution through painting, ceramics and jewellery. The exhibition runs 23 September–5 October, 10 - 4 daily.

The gardens are now on their autumn opening hours, closing at 4.30pm with last entry at 3.30pm.

Will you join us to observe the sky as dusk falls on the Autumn Equinox?

As summer fades into autumn, join us for a very special evening at Tremenheere to experience the magic of the Autumn Equinox.

On 22 September, the Gardens will open after hours, inviting you to wander through the landscape before settling into Tewlwolow Kernow, @jamesturell’s Skyspace, as daylight slowly disappears.

Watch the colours of the evening sky change above you as natural light gradually gives way to twilight. Take a moment to pause and look upwards as the Skyspace transforms around you.

There’s something magical about experiencing the changing light in this unique space, and no two Skyspace experiences are ever quite the same ✨

Tuesday 22 September | Gardens open from 6pm | Skyspace experience at 7.40pm | Book tickets via link in bio.
