Abigail Reynolds’ Spring Tides – Unveiling at Tremenheere

Sunday 11 October

Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens is delighted to invite you to join artist Abigail Reynolds for the unveiling of her new public commission, Spring Tides, on Sunday 11 October at 2.30pm.

Supported by the Henry Moore Foundation, Spring Tides has been created for the new Garden of Peace at Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens.

Spring Tides reflects on lines of human connection across continents by water, and the cosmic cycles that shape our days on Earth.

Materially, the sculpture is a steel skeleton holding glass and marble onyx. Onyx holds light like moonbeams, while the lunar tides are the subject of the work. The movement of blue glass elements draws the moving line of the sea in St Michael’s Mount Bay closer to the viewer in the olive garden.

The white onyx is translucent, allowing sunlight to reveal its veins and creating paper-like cut-outs that play against the greens of the trees and the sea beyond.

Joining the unveiling

Please meet Abigail Reynolds and Neil on the path behind Tremenheere Kitchen at 2.30pm, from where we will walk together to the sculpture.

If you are delayed, please head to the Ticket Office for directions. Alternatively, if you know the gardens well, the sculpture can be found to the west of Peter Randall-Page’s Slip of the Lip.

We look forward to welcoming you to celebrate the unveiling of Spring Tides and to experience Abigail’s new work within the landscape of Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens.
