August is a wonderful time to visit Tremenheere. The gardens are at their lush summer best, the Sculpture Gardens invite exploration beneath towering palms and exotic planting, and the Gallery welcomes two fascinating new exhibitions celebrating photography and contemporary printmaking.

The Mechanised Image: Forty Years of Paupers Press
1 August – 5 September. Opening event: 31 July, 6-8pm
Opening across both floors of Tremenheere Gallery, The Mechanised Image celebrates forty years of Paupers Press, one of the UK’s leading fine art print and publishing studios.
Featuring work by artists including Sarah Ball, Jake & Dinos Chapman, Mat Collishaw, Damien Hirst, Christopher Le Brun, Grayson Perry, Paula Rego, Bob & Roberta Smith, James Turrell and Caroline Walker, the exhibition explores how traditional printmaking techniques continue to shape contemporary artistic practice.
Most works are available to purchase, and admission to the Gallery is free.
A Glimpse of Serena Wadham
1 August – 5 September. Opening event: 31 July, 6-8pm
Discover the remarkable work of Serena Wadham (1930–2006), a pioneering photojournalist whose images documented Britain’s defining social movements, alongside portraits of artists, communities and everyday life.
Although seven of her photographs are held by the National Portrait Gallery, her work remains largely unknown. This exhibition launches a three-year archive project celebrating her life and legacy in Cornwall and Islington, London, the two places she called home.
Produced in partnership with The Morrab Library and supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and The Myner Trust, the exhibition offers a rare opportunity to discover an important British photographer whose work deserves wider recognition.

Great British Summer Savings
We’re delighted to be taking part in the Great British Summer Savings Scheme, passing the savings from temporary VAT reductions directly on to our visitors.
From 25 June until 1 September, all garden admission tickets (excluding season tickets) are available at reduced prices, whether you book online in advance or purchase your tickets at the garden entrance.
Current admission prices are:
- Adults: £12.70 (usually £14.50)
- Under 21s: £6.20 (usually £7.00)
- 1 Adult + 3 Under 21s: £21.00 (usually £24.00)
- Under 5s: Free
