Half term at Tremenheere 🌿

The gardens are full of colour at the moment, with winding paths, exotic planting, sculpture, birdsong and plenty of space to explore at a slower pace this week.

Young visitors can also pick up free sunflower seeds from the ticket shed as part of the Great Gardens of Cornwall sunflower growing project 🌻

The gallery (Tues-Sat), shop and nursery are all open throughout half term, and Tremenheere Kitchen will be serving breakfasts, lunches, cakes and coffees daily.

This Sunday, 24 May, Tremenheere will host its spring charity day in support of @mandowncic, a Cornwall-founded organisation offering peer support groups for men experiencing mental health challenges.

All proceeds from garden ticket sales will be donated directly to Man Down UK, helping support the running of their free groups and the important work they do across Cornwall and beyond.

The gardens will be open 10.30am–5pm, with the nursery and shop also open throughout the day. Tremenheere Kitchen will be serving Sunday lunch, coffee and cakes.

A day to spend time in nature while supporting an important cause.

@great_gardens_of_cornwall are inviting young growers to plant, nurture and watch their very own sunflowers reach for the sky this summer.

Pick up your free sunflower seeds during your visit to Tremenheere from the ticket shed, and join in with this lovely growing project celebrating gardens, nature, and the next generation of gardeners.

From tiny seeds to towering giants… we can’t wait to see how tall they grow 🌱

Because today’s small beginnings are tomorrow’s great gardens.

New on the blog: a conversation with artist @judy.

New on the blog: a conversation with artist @judy.buxton exploring the ideas behind Tir ha Trig, her exhibition with @ginibounds at Tremenheere Gallery.

Reflecting on landscape, memory, solitude, observation and the physicality of paint, Judy Buxton speaks about working within the landscape and the shared connections running through both artists’ practices across Cornwall and Australia.

The exhibition also includes work by Virginia Bounds, who was previously artist in residence at Tremenheere, where time spent painting within the gardens became part of her ongoing engagement with place and atmosphere.

The exhibition continues in the gallery until 6 June, Tuesday–Saturday, 11am–4pm.

On 29 May, 9.45-4, there will be a workshop led by the artists exploring the gardens in connection to their exhibition (details via link in bio).
