What’s On in May at Tremenheere 🌿

As the gardens move deeper into spring, May brings a varied programme of exhibitions, workshops, wellbeing sessions and live music, with bluebells flowering across the landscape.

Whether you’re looking to slow down, learn something new, or experience something a little different, there’s plenty to discover.

– Tir ha Trig (Land and Ebb) - paintings by Judy Buxton & Virginia Bounds, exploring landscape, memory and dual heritage
– Yoga with Reiki, breathwork, and guided journalling sessions for rest and reflection
– Mor Holan Wild Spa & Sauna returning to the gardens
– A hands-on foraging & cordage workshop with Rachel Lambert
– Live music from violinist Peter Sheppard Skærved, with performances in the Skyspace and gallery

From making and movement to music and stillness, May offers space to experience Tremenheere in different ways.

Forage, Make, Connect 🌿

On Friday 15 May (10-4), join forager and maker @rachellambertforaging for a day of slow, hands-on making at Tremenheere.

Forage and Make Cordage from Garden Plants is an invitation to step into the landscape and work directly with what grows here, learning how to transform plant fibres into cordage using simple, traditional techniques.

Beginning with a guided foraging walk, the day unfolds into a tactile, meditative making process. Along the way, you’ll learn to see plants differently, not just as part of the garden, but as materials with their own potential and purpose.

Your place includes entry to the sculpture gardens, with time to explore, pause, and spend the day outdoors. No experience needed.

Part of a seasonal series with Rachel, with further workshops in July and August exploring bowl and vessel making.

A self-curated retreat day at Tremenheere 🌿

On Saturday 9 May, we invite you to shape your own day through movement, rest and time in the landscape, a day to slow down and reconnect.

Begin with Yoga with Reiki (9.15am), a gentle, restorative session with @franlewisyoga and @coskewispolly in the Upper Gallery. *Garden entry is included, where you can see the bluebells at their peak*.

Later, experience @morholansauna_wildspa (9 & 10 May, 10am–5pm), returning to the gardens with wood-fired sauna sessions that invite heat, stillness and immersion in nature.

Throughout the day, @tremenheerekitchen will be serving seasonal food and refreshments, while @the_shop_tremenheere offers a curated wellness range for rest, ritual and everyday wellbeing. @surreal_succulents will also be open.

A day to move, rest, eat well and reset, all within the landscape.

Tir ha Trig is OPEN ✨

Featuring @judy.buxton (downstairs) and @ginibounds (upstairs). Tir ha Trig (Land and Ebb) brings together paintings spanning the past 25 years.

Speaking about the exhibition Judy Buxton and Virginia Bounds say: ‘As two painters, we share Australian heritage, living and painting in Cornwall as well as the complexities of straddling these two territories – both physically and in the psyche. We painted ‘plein-air’ together in the late 90s, sharing the love of landscape and the visceral qualities of paint. The play and tension between figuration and abstraction are seen in different ways in our works.’
