About the James Turrell Skyspace

For over half a century, the American artist James Turrell has worked directly with light and space to create artworks that engage viewers with the limits and wonder of human perception.

A James Turrell Skyspace is a specifically proportioned chamber with an aperture in the ceiling open to the sky. Skyspaces can be autonomous structures or integrated into existing architecture. The aperture can be round, ovular or square.

FAQs for the James Turrell Skyspace

We have a custom-made canvas roof that can be temporarily placed across the Skyspace ceiling as a wet weather option.

The James Turrell Skyspace is licensed for ceremonies with up to 48 guests. Additional guests may attend; however they must stay outside of the licensed area during the ceremony.

The majority of couples prefer to not have decorations in the Skyspace, instead preferring to be in keeping with the clean, minimal interior. Couples do regularly choose to decorate the entranceway.

Following the ceremony in the James Turrell Skyspace you and yours guests are welcome to have photographs and post-ceremony drinks in the garden.

What previous couples say

‘We considered a number of venues but instantly knew the James Turrell Skyspace was the perfect venue for our wedding – as we both come from creative backgrounds we loved the idea of bringing our friends and family together in this beautiful and very unique setting.’

‘The planning was made so easy by the team at Tremenheere and we felt free to plan our day the way we wanted it to be. Many of our 50 guests had never visited Tremenheere before, everyone was blown away by it and we all had a wonderful time exploring the gardens, taking amazing photographs and enjoying a celebratory drink following the ceremony.’
