Bright pops of colour nestled among subtropical planting, granite boulders and sweeping views across Carbis Bay and St Michael’s Mount, @alice.irwin_’s playful sculptures have become a joyful addition to the Tremenheere landscape.

But there’s more to them than meets the eye.

In our latest blog, we explore the inspiration behind the Peeps series, from childhood and memory to the ways sculpture can spark curiosity, conversation and connection.

How might we listen more deeply to the lives that unfold beyond the human? ✨

Join us this Saturday 11 July for Listening to Other Lives, a special panel discussion inspired by our current exhibition, Holy Animals Sacred Plants: Responses to Other Lives.

Bringing together perspectives from art, folklore, ecology and environmental action, the conversation explores our relationships with animals, plants and the natural world, asking what kinds of knowledge emerge when we slow down, pay attention and truly listen.

Chaired by Professor Penny Florence, the panel features artist @katewaltersartist, environmental activist David Smart-Knight, writer and folklorist Lucy Cooper, and Rachael Bice, CEO of @cornwallwildlifetrust.

The evening begins with a performance by @helenasophiaallan, followed by the panel discussion, audience Q&A and an opportunity to explore the exhibition.

Saturday 11 July | Doors open 4.30pm | Performance 5pm | Panel discussion 5.30pm

Whether you’re interested in contemporary art, mythology, ecology or our connection with the more-than-human world, this promises to be a thought-provoking evening of conversation and reflection.

The artists exhibiting alongside Kate in this exhibition are: Sally Tripptree, Mydd Pharo, Christine Linfield, Mandy Lancaster, Terese Tubman, Jacky Fox, Lucy Cooper, Danielle Beall-Kemp, Rachael Bice and Helena Sophia Allan.

Light, colour, music, perception.

Tremenheere Director Neil Armstrong recently attended the world premiere of As Seen Below – The Dome, James Turrell’s newest Skyspace at ARoS in Aarhus, Denmark.

Described as the artist’s most ambitious Skyspace to date, the monumental work brings together light, architecture and the changing sky in a powerful exploration of perception.

Watching colour shift through the space alongside a live orchestral performance was a reminder of Turrell’s enduring fascination with the act of seeing itself.
