STACHYS: A new life cycle after Storm Goretti 🌿

STACHYS by @rebeccanewnhamsculptor celebrates life cycles, inspired by bamboo, which blooms, dies, and regenerates as a whole species. Its arms lift and open to the sky in celebration of the natural world ✨

When Storm Goretti caused an oak tree to fall on STACHYS in the gardens, it damaged both his structure and skin. Rather than hiding these scars, Rebecca reconfigured the sculpture, working with them, giving STACHYS the chance for a new life cycle.

Rebecca Newnham introduced moss- and lichen-toned glass and olive-coloured crystal mosaics into STACHYS’ skin, weaving subtle new features into his structure and celebrating both resilience and transformation.

Now, reimagined and renewed, STACHYS continues to lift and open, a living testament to growth, regeneration, and the beauty of change.

These changes are yet to be revealed! The gardens open on 14 February, so come and discover STACHYS in his new form.

We’re reopening for the new season on 14 February, and we’re thrilled to offer discounted garden entry for Cornwall residents from 14 Feb – 31 Mar 💚

This reopening carries special meaning after the impact of Storm Goretti; many trees and landscapes across Cornwall were affected, including here at Tremenheere. As the garden awakens again, we invite you to walk its paths, notice what’s changed, and find calm in nature’s resilience.

Locals’ Offer details:
✨ 14 February – 31 March 26
✨ Open daily 10.30 - 4.30, last entry 3.30.
✨ Discounted entry with proof of Cornwall residency: Adults: £7.50, Under 21s: £3.50, Under 5s: FREE
