Forage, Cordage & Bowl Making with Rachel Lambert

This season at Tremenheere, we’re pleased to welcome a series of hands-on workshops led by forager, maker, and educator Rachel Lambert. Taking place across May and July and August, these sessions offer an invitation to slow down, connect with plants in a new way, and explore traditional making techniques rooted in natural materials.

Working directly with what grows around us, both wild and cultivated, each workshop explores how plant fibres can be transformed into practical and beautiful objects. From cordage (natural string-making) to bowl and vessel construction, participants are guided through a process that is both creative and deeply connected to place.

Rachel’s practice is grounded in years of foraging experience and a long-standing interest in the relationship between people, plants, and craft. These sessions are accessible to all levels and are as much about process and observation as they are about making.

Forage and Make Cordage from Garden Plants

Fri 15 May 2025, 10am – 4pm
An introduction to cordage making using wild and garden plants. Participants will forage materials, learn how to process plant fibres, and create natural string using simple traditional techniques. The day includes a foraging walk, hands-on making, and time to explore different plant materials.

Forage and Make a Mat or Bowl from Plants

Tues 14 July or Fri 14 Aug 2025, 10am – 4pm

A creative workshop exploring how plant materials can be shaped into functional forms such as bowls and mats. Using seasonal plant fibres and garden cuttings, participants will learn a meditative coiling and binding process to create tactile, sculptural objects.

Working with Plants, Place and Process

Across all workshops, the emphasis is on observation, connection, and making with what is already present in the landscape. Participants are invited to slow down and engage with natural materials in a direct and tactile way, learning skills that are both practical and reflective.

Each session includes guided foraging, hands-on making, and time to explore the wider possibilities of plant-based craft.

All places include a day entry into the sculpture gardens.
