Newlyn School of Art presents Rhizome

A hot bed of emerging talent ‘Rhizome’ profiles new artworks with fresh narratives, challenging concepts and diverse perspectives. From film to sculpture, painting to installation this show has an underlying vitality and multiplicity that distinguishes itself from most group exhibitions. Together these artists have been immersed in a year of intensive mentoring and as each of their practices culminates from the demanding but nurturing environment, this show reflects the urgency and honesty that arises when artists fully commit to making relevant meaningful work.

Over nine years the Newlyn School of Art mentoring shows have gained a reputation for a place to see this dynamic flourishing of new ideas and approaches in contemporary art. However this is the first year it will be held at Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens. An expedient setting for ‘Rhizome’ especially where unusual texture, opacity, light and design are in play and the botanical gardens underpin your visit there. The artists will be utilising and responding to every element of this fertile context and creating an immersive environment where art works fuse or collide, find allegiances, or assert themselves.

During this exhibition, Tremenheere Gallery will have different opening time to normal – see below. FREE entry – no need to pre-book.

Opening times: Friday 10th: 5-9pm, Saturday 11th: 10am – 5pm, Sunday 12th: 10am – 4pm
