Join us during the October half term for our Autumn Charity Day, this year supporting ShelterBox’s response to the catastrophic flash floods in Nepal.
ShelterBox is an international disaster relief charity that provides shelter and essential items to families displaced by conflict and disaster. Founded in Cornwall in 2000, it has supported millions of people across more than 100 countries.
At the time of writing ShelterBox, in partnership with Islamic Relief and Rotary, has provided emergency shelter and essential supplies – including blankets, sleeping mats, tarpaulins, ropes and pillows – to 1,000 families displaced by the devastating floods in northern Nepal.
Watch this update filmed shortly after ShelterBox’s first distributions on the 8th of September.
Working with their Partner People in Need, the charity is now transporting tents, tarpaulins, ropes, solar lights, thermal blankets and solar lights by helicopter to isolated upstream mountain communities. A third phase of the response is being planned and will focus on providing longer-term recovery support for the months ahead.
On the day, the Gardens will be open from 10.30am–4.30pm, with all proceeds from garden admission—both in person and online, excluding season ticket purchases—donated to ShelterBox’s Nepal appeal.
100% of funds raised from the Open Day will provide shelter and essential items for affected families in Nepal. If donations exceed the amount needed for ShelterBox’s Nepal appeal, your donation will provide emergency shelter and other essential aid items wherever the need is greatest.
