EarthEye at Tremenheere Sculpture Gardens

We are excited to share with you the shot by Alban Roinard of ‘Earth Eye’, which is currently scorched into the grass at Tremenheere.

Words inspired by natural recovery, and written by artist Penny Florence have been scorched into the grass having been heated in a coal-fired pit.

The transfer of energy from a major polluter of the last century, into metal letters that scar the earth, will evolve into positive recovery as the grass regrows, and the words disappear to green. The words will be visible until the grass recovers a few weeks later. The installation will be documented and subsequently turned into a short film which will be the only eventual evidence of the poem.

Earth Eye part of Wild Words; a series of collaborative art installations created by artist Anthony Garratt, which ‘scorch’ texts about natural recovery, and our relationship with the natural world into areas of short grass.
