Billy Wynter is an artist based in West Cornwall who has been painting and creating work since the late 1970s. From the early nineties he became involved with community art projects-especially through the Cornwall based Kneehigh Theatre. His work has included the making of large processional images for street festivals.
In Tremenheere Billy Wynter has created a camera obscura which provides a focus for one compartment in the gardens. Careful siting allows this work to sit comfortably within the landscape. Internal images of the plants and views are often compared to landscape portraits-albeit alive with movement and light.
In the last ten years Wynter has built three camera obscuras situated in Cornwall. He has also been working on sound installation work and building kinetic sculptures to use and explore the movement of wind through and over landscape.
